RAP Dance Competition
In addition to all the great workshops, music, and dancing, we're going to have two divisions of RAP Dance Competitions: Novice/Intermediate, and Advanced. Each competition has a $10 entrance fee. Please register online when you purchase your pass if possible, but in person sign-up will be available.
Over the years the dance competition where a group of leads and a group of follows comes together, are randomly assigned a partner from the other group and then compete in front of judges has had many names. In an effort to not only promote an atmosphere of inclusivity, but also better describe what exactly this competition is we would like to formally introduce our Randomly Assigned Partner Dance Competition (RAP Dance Comp).
Our competitions are not about proving who is the best. The real competition is with yourself, a challenge to improve your level of dancing, and show the room what you can do. These competitions are intended to inspire ourselves and each other, taking a moment to share the dance that we love with a cheering group of like-minded people!
Level Description:
Novice/Intermediate
This competition is for those who are new to competing or have competed in a few competitions but not placed. At this level you will be judged primarily on your ability to connect with your partner. It's not about how many tricks you can do but how well you can dance with a partner.
Advanced
This competition is for those who have been dancing and competing for a while, and who regularly make finals in their competitions. At this level we assume that you are able to dance with connection, you'll be judged on how well you can add your own personality to the dance while supporting your partner on the dance floor.
